time to make some… Thyme-Lemon Cookies

April7

As requested by a customer, we posted this cookie recipe and hope that many of you make and enjoy eating these as much as we do. This is one of our favorite recipes and Julie always does a bang up job making them. Thanks Julie for passing this recipe along. btw- I believe Julie uses Lemon Thyme for the cookies, to make them lemonier of course. The recipe appeared in SUNSET magazine and is credited to Janet Moore, Beulah, CO.

THYME-LEMON COOKIES

1 cup (1/2 lb.) butter
1 3/4 cups sugar
2 large eggs
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons dry thyme leaves
1 tablespoon grated lemon peel.

Combine butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar; beat until thoroughly blended. Beat in eggs until smooth. Add flour, baking powder, thyme, and lemon peel; mix well. Put remaining 1/4 cup sugar into a small bowl. Shape into 1 Tbsp-size balls (chill for an hour for easier handling); drop balls into sugar & roll to coat. Place balls 1 inch apart on ungreased 12×15″ sheet. Bake at 375° 12 to 15 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.

ATTENTION: Email Bulletin

November4

This summer we changed how we send out our emails. We currently send our emails from [email protected]. As a result of this change ALL of our customers with AOL email addresses are no longer receiving our emails. This is an obstacle we seem to not be able to get around. We have tried a few other fixes and will mail out our next email to our full list including our AOL customers and see what happens. If you happen to be one of these customers or have a friend with an AOL email address please let them know and give us an alternate email address if available. We hate to be unreachable to our customers who are looking for information and updates from us. This coming year we hope to be sending out a few paper mailings, but currently and in the future most of our news will be posted on our website and sent via email. Please check and see that you are receiving our emails reliably, and if you are not on our email list just write us and we would love to put you on the list. Again we do not share our mailing list with anyone.

Please reach us at [email protected] with concerns or comments.

Thieneman’s Greenhaus is a family owned and operated garden center, located in beautiful Coxs Creek, KY.
Two years ago we took a leap of faith and decided to relocate our garden center after the family farm sold.
We found a picturesque 10 acre farm just south of Mt Washington and we started settling in. After not quite 2 years now, we still feel like we’re moving in. But we thankfully didn’t have to skip a season.
We had a great first year, and it looks like we’ll have a great second year. We are extremely thankful our loyal customers followed us, and a bunch of new people have found us too.
We have been specializing in herbs and perennials for almost 60 years. Our herb collection is probably the largest in the area. For 15 years now we have grown a large variety of heirloom tomatoes, peppers and veggies. And we have a great love for succulents as well, our collection is ever growing. Our goal is to be your favorite local garden center known for unusual and hard to find plants. We love our plants!!
