Thieneman’s Mater Days in memory of the “Mater Man”, Gary Millwood.

March11

As many of you may already be aware Gary Millwood passed away last year. He was the inspiration behind our ‘Mater Days.  Gary would come out to the nursery and talk for hours with our customers about the history behind some of the heirloom tomatoes.  We hope you will join us during Mater Days this year and share your stories about Gary and perhaps any stories you may have about an heirloom vegetable.  Come celebrate his life, and carry on his enormous enthusiasm and love for tomatoes.

Our plant sale starts friday April 18th   9:00am-7:00pm (if it isn’t zero degrees) we have over 150 varieties of tomatoes and 75 varieties of Peppers.   Other vegetables include cucumbers, eggplants, squash and melons, some very unique.

Some varieties are limited so shop early!  We will not reserve any plants or ship vegetable plants.  Thank you and see you soon.

‘Cupcake Succulents got ‘pinned”

We recently noticed Katie Couric pinned our succulent cupcake photo on her Pintrest gardening wall. So cool!!! Thanks Katie! Although it’s no new idea, we love that she noticed our photo and thought it worthy enough to share. Succulents seem to really be in vogue at the moment, and our selection of plants for sale covers a breadth of colors and shapes. Join us the weekend of Oct 12th and 13th for a free lecture on how to grow these beauties (specifically indoors thru winter months). Our succulents will be on sale that weekend; normally $5.95, on sale $4.95.000_succulent_cupcakes_small

Thieneman’s Greenhaus is a family owned and operated garden center, located in beautiful Coxs Creek, KY.
Two years ago we took a leap of faith and decided to relocate our garden center after the family farm sold.
We found a picturesque 10 acre farm just south of Mt Washington and we started settling in. After not quite 2 years now, we still feel like we’re moving in. But we thankfully didn’t have to skip a season.
We had a great first year, and it looks like we’ll have a great second year. We are extremely thankful our loyal customers followed us, and a bunch of new people have found us too.
We have been specializing in herbs and perennials for almost 60 years. Our herb collection is probably the largest in the area. For 15 years now we have grown a large variety of heirloom tomatoes, peppers and veggies. And we have a great love for succulents as well, our collection is ever growing. Our goal is to be your favorite local garden center known for unusual and hard to find plants. We love our plants!!
